Fangame edits
Starting with the bad: Gensou SkyDrift ports.
Unlike backports, these recolors are inspired instead of being colorpicked. This is in part why the project was scrapped: homemade shading is not fun. It's fine for a couple of sprites here and there, but the amount of palettes in GSSD is way too impressive to make the editing process enjoyable at all. I've only gotten two characters done before quitting.
These alternate palettes are officially named in GSSD, and some of Reimu's notably reference other characters from the series: "Shopkeeper Style" references Rinnosuke Morichika, "Magical Girl" references Marisa Kirisame and "Old Timey Reimu" simply refers to her PC-98 self.
Enjoy the sprites, I suppose.
- Kasen Ibaraki's palettes - "Blue Guardian Spirit" and "Black Rose"
- Reimu Hakurei's palettes - "Blue Reimu", "Black Reimu", "Shopkeeper Style", "Magical Girl", "Tiger Reimu" and "Old Timey Reimu"
On to the Touhou Blooming Chaos 2 sprite edits!
I used to directly post these to the game's Discord server, with some sprites being popular requests and others being my own ideas.
- The Flandre Scarlet Quartet - Cirno, Koishi Komeiji, Marisa Kirisame and Remilia Scarlet
Four of a Kind, haha. Touhou Blooming Chaos 2 features cut-in artwork matching the alternate palettes you can select for characters, however the sprites are not always 100% accurate to the cut-ins.
The Cirno sprite in question lacked the cut-in's blue-hued crystals. The Koishi, Marisa and Remilia palette didn't change the colors of Flandre's crystals, so these edits were original ideas. Following the same pattern as the Cirno skin, I gave the other sprites colors suiting the characters they represented. The Koishi skin's crystals are green and yellow, Remilia's are an arrangement of bloody purples to oranges and lastly, Marisa's are pastel, inspired by the brightness of her star bullets.
- Alice's fighting games alternate palettes
Left is from IaMP, right is from SWR. I was originally going to do this for every character, but never really felt like it.
- Alice's Patchouli-colored dolls
The dolls seen in Alice's "idle" and "dash" animations, but with a hair color matching that of her Patchouli skin's cut-in artwork.
They are extremely small and therefore upscaled x2 for better visibility.
- Black Youmu
A rather popular request. Youmu's black skin sprite with hair and clothes matching her cut-in artwork.
- Water Hina
Hina's water skin with opaque and slightly less intense hair to better reflect her cut-in artwork.
